Lessons

You and your instructor are responsible for agreeing all matters relating to the timing, location and duration of individual lessons.

On your first lesson you must present your instructor with a valid provisional license and show you can read a numberplate at a distance of 20.5 m (67 feet) (with prescribed visual aids if normally worn).

You must notify your instructor of any matters which affect your ability or entitlement to have driving tuition e.g. medication, any lack or loss of a valid UK provisional driving license.

Any lesson start time that is running late, the pupil will be contacted by the instructor in advance (phone signal providing).

Instructors cannot be held responsible for delays due to traffic.

Where possible, instructors will make up any lost time at the end of the current lesson or add to a future booking.

If the pupil fails to attend by the start time, without advance notice and agreement, the instructor will wait for 15 minutes. When pupil arrives late the missed time will not be given unless the instructor sees fit.

Any loss of test fees, due to late arrival, are non refundable by either XL Driving Tuition or the DVSA.

XL Driving Tuition will not be held responsible if your lesson is affected by, but not limited to, the following circumstances -: bad weather, an unforeseen accident while on a lesson, DVSA cancelling a driving test.

Any abusive language or threatening behaviour to any XL driving instructor, DVSA examiner or the general public, on a driving lesson, will result in your lesson being terminated resulting in the loss of lesson fee.

Payments

Payment is by cash or bank transfer.

Lesson fees are to be paid at or by the beginning of each lesson.

XL Driving Tuition has no responsibility or liability to you for payments made direct to the instructor. If you pay your instructor directly by any method you should make sure you get a receipt. XL Driving Tuition accepts no responsibility for any payments made directly to instructors.

Price changes

The cost of tuition is based on the lesson price at the time of booking and this will be honoured for 6 months afterwards.

 Refunds

Refunds will be given (admin charges may apply) if more than 48 hours notice is given.

Refunds of any unused hours in a block booking contract will be given (admin charges may apply) if more than 48 hours notice is given. The block booking discount will no longer apply.

This does not apply to intensive course bookings. See different section.

 Vouchers

Vouchers and gift cards have no cash value and have to be redeemed against tuition.

Voucher and gift cards aren’t transferable.

Vouchers and gift cards are valid until the date shown on them.

Voucher must be brought to each lesson it’s paying for.

Cancellation of lessons

If you only give between 24 and 48 hours notice of cancellation and a mutually agreeable, convenient and alternative time in the same week cannot be arranged, you’ll be charged a one hour fee. If you don’t give at least 24 hours notice of cancellation and a mutually agreeable, convenient and alternative time in the same week cannot be arranged, you’ll be charged the full lesson fee.

DVSA driving test

The DVSA require you to give three clear working days to cancel or reschedule your practical driving test. This means that you may lose your test fee if you cancel or reschedule your test within the three working day period. Your driving instructor will give you as much notice as possible if they do not consider you to be ready to take your test to avoid you losing your fee.

In any circumstances where your test needs to be postponed/cancelled too close to the test date neither XL Driving Tuition or your instructor are liable for the cost of the test.

If a pupil is not deemed to be at test standard the instructor or XL Driving Tuition are not obliged to take the pupil to test.
